Using Lookoutt

Embark on your continuous improvement journey with our comprehensive User Guide. Whether you're new to the world of continuous improvement or organizational performance or simply looking to deepen your understanding, this guide is your compass to navigate through the basics.

Answering The Signal

  1. Every weekday you'll answer one question, called the Signal. Using the work email address associated with your account, we'll email you each weekday with a link that navigates you to your daily Signal. You may also access the daily Signal using the Lookoutt app, by clicking Signal in the navbar.

  2. If you get behind, you can answer any Signals you missed by clicking the Catch Up link displayed to you after you answer your daily Signal. Note that this only appears if you have unanswered questions in your Cycle.

  3. All team members receive the same question each day to ensure the Observation maintains good data quality.

  4. The questions are designed to uncover collaboration & communication issues that can slow teams down and lead to burnout.

Your Cycle

Cycles are one-month periods in which Lookoutt collects team feedback through The Signal and analyzes the data to generate an Observation. This structured timeframe ensures teams have a clear cadence for reflecting on progress, identifying challenges, and taking meaningful action.

  • Each team's Cycle is 30 calendar days. If your Cycle started on March 1, 2025, your next Cycle would begin on April 1, 2025.

  • A team's Cycle date is established on the date when the account is first created by the Billing Admin.

Your Observation

Observations provide teams with data-driven clarity on their most significant collaboration challenges. By surfacing actionable insights, Lookoutt helps teams align on priorities, address underlying issues, and continuously improve effectiveness.

  1. At the end of your team's Cycle, Lookoutt will send an email to each member of their team with a link to their Observation for that Cycle.

  2. Observations are only sent on weekdays, so if your Cycle ends on a weekend, you'll receive your Observation on Monday.

  3. You can also view your team's current Observation anytime by clicking Observation in the navbar.

Note: When your account is first created, we provide an example Observation for you to explore. This is not specific to your team, thus Lookoutt doesn't include this when calculating team metrics.

Your Path

Path is the actionable journey your team follows after receiving an Observation. It provides actionable guidance tailored to your team’s unique challenges, empowering you to take effective actions in the way that suits your team best.

  1. When you receive an Observation, you also receive a Path

  2. Each Path includes specific recommendations and activities tailored to your team’s challenges.

  3. Collaborate as a team to complete the actions and monitor progress within your Vantage.

  4. Paths are designed to be iterative. While some teams may find a single action effectively addresses their challenge, some teams may find Paths to be iterative. Reflect on what’s working and adjust as needed. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Your Vantage

Vantage is your team’s dashboard, offering a comprehensive view of ongoing Cycles, and current & historical Signals and Observations. It provides clear visibility into trends and progress over time, ensuring your team stays aligned and focused on what matters most.

  • Use Vantage to track your team’s progress, view historical data, and monitor trends over time.

  • Easily navigate between you, your team, and all teams metrics to view how your performance has evolved.

  • Gain quick access to your Observation, Path, and Signal responses, ensuring you always have the information you need to determine what steps to take next.

  • View metrics like Alignment, Relative Responses, Cumulative Responses, Response Rate, and Response Difference.
